New Software Catalog for Johns Hopkins Faculty, Staff, and Students

A new Software Catalog has replaced SPARS, the system used by Johns Hopkins faculty, staff and students to purchase software.

What is the Software Catalog?
The Software Catalog is a robust online system where faculty, staff, and students can browse more than 150 popular software items (e.g., Microsoft Windows 7, Adobe Acrobat Pro, etc.) and obtain them for work purposes.  The Software Catalog replaces the existing SPARS site and provides users with an easy-to-use format familiar to online shoppers.

Who Uses the Software Catalog?
The Software Catalog is intended for faculty, staff, and students at Johns Hopkins University (All Schools and Divisions), Johns Hopkins Health System, and Affiliates (e.g. Sibley Memorial, Suburban, All Childrens Hospital, Bayview, etc.)

How do I access the Software Catalog?

Access the Software Catalog directly at https://itservices.johnshopkins.edu/catalog/ or via the my.JohnsHopkins.edu portal page under the Technology icon in the left-hand navigation menu.

Who created the Software Catalog?
The Software Catalog was created by the IT Solutions Center with support from other IT groups and a third-party vendor.  The Software Committee (comprised of IT and business stakeholders) was critical in helping to gather requirements and guide the project.  Creating a software catalog was a recommendation of the Procurement Advisory Committee (PAC) with the goal of making it easier for faculty, staff, and students to obtain software.
