Q. What is Office 365?

Microsoft Office 365 is a set of powerful, flexible and enterprise-grade email, communication, & collaboration web services.

Q. How do I access my Office 365 Email?

If you have the active JHED login ID, to access to your Office 365 account,  log into the myJH portal, the Messaging icon to expand its options, then click the Office 365 icon. You may also access your Office 365 account at http://www.outlook.com/jh.edu by using your JHED login ID and JHED password.

Alumni users can access their Alumni Office 365 email account, login at http://www.outlook.com/alumni.jh.edu by using JHED login ID and alumni password. For more information about alumni password please visit Connect.

Q. Are group/shared accounts supported in Office 365?

Yes, all Office 365 users are eligible to request Office 365 group account. To request an O365 group account you can login to JHED portal, click “JHED” icon to expand its options, then click on “Request/Manager Group Email” icon.

Q. How much space do I have for my Office 365 email account?

Each Office 365 mailbox has a quota of 50GB.

Q. What the maximum allowed attachment size for my message?

The maximum allow attachment size is 25MB

Q. What happens to my Office 365 account when I graduate?

Please check with your school registrar office to find out what is student affiliation retention policy from ISIS. For most of schools, graduates will still have a student affiliation for 2-3 years before being switched over to an alumni affiliation. At that time, the Alumni Relations Office will send you an email with instructions for migrating your student account to an alumni account.

Q. What are the Office 365 system requirements?

To get the full Office 365 for education experience, we recommend that you meet our system prerequisites. This includes upgrading beyond Internet Explorer 7 and Outlook 2003. For more specific details, see the Microsoft system requirements.

Q. Can I connect my Office 365 account to my mobile device?

Yes, Office 365 accounts can be connected to any mobile device that supports the IMAP, POP and/or ActiveSync protocols. For more information, please see out Office 365 and Mobile Devices page: http://www.it.johnshopkins.edu/services/email/Office365/mobile.html.

Q.  Can I still keep my email address such as @jhu.edu or @jhmi.edu after I graduate?

Yes,  as an alumni, you can keep your @jhu.edu or @jhmi.edu as long as they are routing to the valid email addresses.

Q. What is the impact for my O365 account if my JHED password expired or changed?

Your Office 365 account password is same as your JHED password, if the JHED password is expired then you will not able to access your Office 365 Email account. You will also need to reconfigure the mobile device by using the new password.

Q. How do I reset my office 365 password?

You can reset or change the password from JHED portal login page.

Q. What client protocols that Office 365 support?

Office 365 supports POP, IMAP, Web OWA (Outlook Web App ) and Exchange Outlook client.

Q. How can I request an office 365 account?

As Johns Hopkins student, your Office 365 account will be automatically provisioned. Staff and faculty need to contact your department IT admin to request an office 365 account.

Q. What should I do if I get error message like: “Reference number:  xxxxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxx, ex: 6853e0d9-4e51-45f6-a507-01c9ce01b58a” when I login to Office 365 account?

This is caused by the session cookies/token that is not automatically cleaned up when you exit from the browser.  First, try clearing the cache on your current browser and then try to login again. Next, try using a different browser.

Q. How do I recall a message?

You will need a desktop Outlook email client to perform this. Please refer to the appropriate link for your version of Outlook:
