Convergence Client

Johns Hopkins Enterprise Messaging Announces a New Webmail Client

Convergence Client is now available to JHEM users in a pilot program.  The client will be made available to all JHEM users when development of new documentation and support tools is complete.  Prior to full deployment, any current JHEM user may begin to use Convergence now by participating in the pilot program (details below).  JHEM webmail users who are experiencing Java script errors using the Messenger Express client with some of the newer web browsers will specifically benefit by participating in the Converence pilot.

What is Convergence?

Convergence is an Ajax-based Web 2.0 client that provides integrated access to email, calendars, and address books via a highly intuitive and richly functional user interface.  Convergence brings the depth of features typically found in desktop clients together with the ease of use of a web-based client.  JHEM users will have access to their email, calendars, and address books in one convenient window from any location where they have a internet connection and a web browser.

What is the Convergence Pilot Program?

The Convergence Pilot provides current JHEM users with the opportunity to use the new client earlier than the rest of the JHEM customer base.  In order to participate, JHEM users need to request access to Convergence. Pilot participants need to be willing to provide Johns Hopkins Enterprise Messaging with comments and feedback on Convergence and to let us know if there are issues or support topics that they believe might require additional documentation or review before full deployment.

IMPORTANT NOTE:   All JHEM email mailboxes and folders and JHEM calendars are completely interchangeable whether viewed in the old Messenger Express client or the new Convergence client.  However, address books are not interchangeable between the old and new web clients.  Because of this, Enterprise Messaging will copy your old address book entries from Messenger Express to Convergence when you sign up for the pilot.  Once you start using the new web client, please do NOT go back to the old web client and make modications to your address book.

How to partipate in the Convergence Pilot

It is very easy to begin using Convergence.  Simply send us an email to let us know of your interest and/or ask us any other questions that you may have.  Be sure to include your JHED LID in your email so that we can properly identify you.  We will migrate a copy of your address book for use in Convergence and send you information about how to access Convergence.  We will also follow up with an email request for your comments and feedback at some point in the future.
