Additional password information should be entered into your Outlook Live account in case you need to reset your password. This information also helps Microsoft verify that this is your account. By entering an alternate e-mail address and selecting a Secret Question and Answer you can reset your password without needing assistance from the IT Help Desk.
In browswer window log into Outlook Live Web App mailbox
Go to Options
Select See All Options
Under Shortcuts to other things you can do, Select Change your password
On the Account Overview page, scroll down to Account Security. This is where you can Change your password and/or Update your Security Information. It's important that you Update your Security Information for Self-Service Password Resetting.
Under Account Security on the Acount Overview page, Next to Password: select Change
Enter old password then type in new password and retype new password for verification.
Click Save to complete changing your Password.
Under Account Security on the Acount Overview page, next to Security Info:, select Manage
In the Manage security info screen, enter an Alternate email address and Security question.
Then Select Save.
