Audio Visual Services

                 

The Audio Visual Services group of IT@JH offers a wide range of audio visual services throughout The Johns Hopkins University, specifically the Homewood campus.  These services include the delivery and setup of conference communications technology for meetings, conferences, courses, and special events. Normal hours of operation are Monday-Friday 7:30AM-6:30PM. 

Our staff also provides consultation services relating to presentation technologies or a simple advisory role on the best type of equipment for a given service.

Audio Visual Services provides equipment at no cost for undergraduate courses. All equipment is available on a first-come, first-serviced basis. We recommend that requests be made at least a week in advance.

Current equipment rental rates, delivery fees and hourly labor rates are listed below. Please note that the equipment pricing listed is an approximate value based on typical requirements, and therefore the actual cost may vary. The AV Services group will confirm the specific requirements after the request is submitted online at the link above.  If requested, a preliminary invoice can also be sent for requests that are billable.

Videoconferencing, Mediasite and Video Recording Services

AV now offers video recording services at an hourly rate.  Recordings can be converted to DVD at the clients request but other forms of digital delivery are available.  All post-shoot services (editing, etc.) are conducted based on technician availability and, likewise, are charged at an hourly rate.  Rush service is generally not available for recording or post-production requests.  Video camera rental is $125.00 per event per day.  Equipment is not rented separately from our service.  Mediasite and Videoconferencing services are priced by the hour, day or month.  All post-production services are, likewise, conducted based on technician availability and are charged at an hourly rate.

  • Mediasite recorder rental: $150/day
  • Mediasite recording, technician, and 6 months of content hosting: $150/hour
  • Mediasite hosting: $250/presentation/year
  • Videoconference - technician and equipment:  $75/hour
  • Videoconference bridge: $50/conference
  • Videoconference endpoint equipment rental: $150/day

Academic Courses

There is no charge for AV equipment for academic courses as long as they meet the following criteria:

  1. Credit-only classes.  (On a first come, first served basis)
  2. Confirmed room assignment in a General Pool classroom (http://www.jhu.edu/registr/).
  3. Class is being held during regular business hours (M-F, 7:30AM - 6:30PM)

Billing and Discounts

Normal hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.  Any services falling outside of these hours are ranked as overtime.

Standard Rate:  $27/hour (1-hour minimum on all events during business hours)

Overtime Rate:  $34/hour (4-hour minimum on all weekend events and university holidays)

SAC Student Groups receive a 50% discount on equipment costs (labor rates are not discounted).
