Operations Services

As part of the Data Center Services structure, Operations Services is a 24/7 organization that supports both JHHS and JHU systems and applications. Operating out of the Mt. Washington Data Center and consisting of both JHH and JHU personnel, Operations Services monitors both mainframe and mid-range systems, complies with daily batch processing schedules, prints and distributes an average of 935,000 printed pages per month and co-ordinates with the off-site type storage vendor to ensure that the necessary requirements to satisfy our Disaster Recovery initiatives are maintained.

Supporting financial and critical clinical systems for the Hospital and core financial and student systems for the University, Operations Services initiates problem resolution efforts with the hardware and software oncall support groups. Support of the JHH and JHU Finance departments' payroll schedules involves the processing of the various weekly schedules and the printing of the direct deposit advices for JHH, BMC and other JH groups.  In addition to mainframe applications, the nightly batch processing schedules support the Patient Accounting departments for both JHH and BMC; this also generates the bulk of the print volume distributed to both the East Baltimore JHH campus and BMC, via courier.

Operations Services creates, updates and maintains special forms used throughout the Hospital by many of the nursing units.

Operations Services administers and co-ordinates the Change Management process through an automated software package to facilitate scheduled system changes.

Operations Services is responsible for the physical security and environmental controls of the Mt. Washington and East Baltimore Data Centers.  All requests for maintenance, electrical work and space are processed through Operations Services.
